At leevin Hostel, your safety, security and comfort are paramount to us. We are firmly committed to maintaining the privacy of your personal information. Information provided to us will remain strictly confidential and shall not be disclosed to third parties, unless otherwise required by law.
This document contains information on our CCTV policy and data processing. It contains important information about how we collect, store, process and protect your data and image and your rights in relation to such.
CCTV Privacy Notice
Leevin Hostel has CCTV installed throughout our premises, apart from our guests’ rooms.
We currently collect and process the following information:
- The CCTV will capture images in real time wherever the cameras are pointed.
- These cameras may capture footage of you while you are on the premises.
- Cameras have been situated outside the Hostel buildings, in hallways and common areas.
- In respect to our guests’ privacy, there are no cameras inside any of the rooms and bathrooms.
- There are signs in place to inform you where cameras are in use.
We receive static and moving images from the cameras in operation on the premises. This information is stored on a secured local server. We use the information in order:
- To ensure the health and safety of employees, service users, and visitors to the sites;
- To detect, prevent, or reduce the incidence of crime and anti-social behaviour;
- To prevent and respond effectively to all forms of possible harassment and disorder;
- To reduce the fear of crime;
- To safeguard residents, visitors, and employees;
- To provide emergency services assistance;
- To provide information regarding possible breaches of the Hostel License agreements by occupiers or their visitors;
- To assist with health, safety, and other serious occurrences, including compliance with employment issues.
We may share this information with other statutory agencies, such as the Police. Still, only if necessary to do so or we are required to by law.
Data security
We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your CCTV images from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. In addition, only a limited number of employees have access to your CCTV images or personal data. They will only handle your CCTV images on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality. Your personal data is only used for the purpose of identification, communication and complying with local laws. We do not sell your data to third parties.
We have put in place procedures to deal with any suspected data security breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a suspected breach where we are legally required to do so.
Data retention
We will only keep your personal data and CCTV images for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes we collected them for. Details of our retention periods for personal information are available in our retention policy, which can be obtained by contacting [email protected].
Right of Access, Rectification and Erasure
If you have given your Personal Data and information to us, you have the right to ask us to advise you of the scope of information Leevin Hostel processes about you, the purpose and nature of the processing, and information on who we share it with. You can also request to update, correct, or delete it at any time. However, we may need to retain certain information for legal or administrative purposes, such as record keeping or to detect fraudulent activities. You can opt out of marketing contact upon request. If you are concerned about a potential violation of your privacy rights, please advise us of your concerns, and we will strive to resolve them as soon as practically possible.

You will not be required to pay a fee when you make any of the above requests, but we may charge a reasonable fee or refuse to comply if your request for access is clearly unfounded or excessive.
Leevin Hostel will reply to your request within one calendar month of receiving the request.
Collection of Your Information
Leevin Hostel collects some personal and technical information about you.
Personal information: When you make a booking, you’ll be asked for your name, telephone number, email address, payment details, and your preferences for your stay. When you check in with us, we collect: your identification document information (such as passport or driver’s license), the names and documents of guests traveling with you, telephone number, and email address.
Technical information: When you visit our website, we may also collect certain information, like your IP address or browser, and information about your computer’s operating system, application version, language settings, and click stream data, which shows the traffic of your visit around this web site (for example pages accessed and documents downloaded). We also collect the previous website address from which you reached us and the domain name used (for example .ie, .com, .org, .net). If you’re using a mobile device, we might also collect data that identifies your mobile device, device-specific settings and characteristics and latitude/longitude details.

Use of Your Information
Why Leevin Hostel collects your data?
Bookings: We use your personal information to identify you and administer your reservation.
Payment cards: We may collect your payment card to process your payments. A tokenized version of your card may be stored for any pending charges. We will never charge your card if you do not own us.
Guest Reviews: We may use your contact information to invite you to write a review after your stay.
Marketing activities: We also use your information for marketing activities, as permitted by law. For example:
When you make a reservation with us, we will send a booking confirmation by email. We also send our customers regular newsletters by email. You can opt-out or unsubscribe from marketing communication at any time.
If you have provided us with your email address over the past 12 months, we might use this email address to target you with specific offers on Facebook or other social media sites that allow retargeting services.
Improving our services: Finally, we use personal information for analytical purposes, to improve our services, enhance the user experience, and improve the functionality and quality of our services.
How does Leevin Hostel use Guests’ Reviews you share with us?
After your stay with us you’ll be invited to submit a Guest Review, which may ask for information about the Property, the surrounding areas, and the destination. By completing a Guest Review, you agree that it can be displayed on, for example, our websites, in our social media accounts; to inform other travellers about the quality and services of the hotel.
